Tip Holiday in the Ardennes

Every now and then you read on full -time mom.and about our trips with the kids. We Love Traveling But Find It Just As Nice to Vacation Closer to Home. We have leg to the ardennes several times already.

Because we really like that place I give you some reasons why you should go on vacation in the ardennes.

For Young and Old

Years ago, when we did not have children, my husband and I went to the ardennes for the first time together. We Rented a Cottage Where the Dogs Were also Allowed and Drove to Belgium Within A Few Hours. Years later we did it again when I was pregnant with the oldest one.

Then we interested a cottage with a jacuzzi where I could relax with my big belly.
Another Year and A Half later We Drove With A Toddler, The Dogs And The In-Laws Back To The Ardennes. We interested a spacious house and had a wonderful week with z’n all. You would Almost Think That By Now I Am An Expert On The Ardennes.

Nothing is Less True because the area is just super beautiful and there is something for young and old to do.

Wooded Area

Something I Really Like About The Ardennes is the Wooded Area. Great for Hiking, Getting Lost, Picnicking or Just Playing with the Kids. Of course this area also lends itelf to going out by bike.

Bikes Can Be Brought Along or interested at Various Places. We never did the latter outsid but we did drive quads through the wooded area once. With a friendly couple we had the greatest fun when we were allowed to drive through the blubber.

Definitely WORTH A TRY.

There are also a many waterfalls in the Woods. Many Hiking Trails Lead To Or Along Such’n Waterfall. With Nice Weather these Are Super Places to Rest Or Even to Play In The Stream With The Children.

Durbuy

A place we return to every vacation in the ardennes is durbuy. A Very Small Old Town Whose Inhabitants Say It Is The Smallest City in Europe. Whether This is Actual True Remains The Question But Small It Certainly Is.

It takes a hour to walk around but I really Recommend it. It is a very cozy town with nice narrow streets. There are some nice cozy restaurants, you can play mini-golf and visit a botanical garden.

This Last One Our Son Really Liked Because in the Wall of this Garden Lived Numerous Lizards.

Caves

What You Really Should Visit If You Are On Vacation In The Ardennes Are The Caves. The Most Famous Are The Caves of Han. As a child I have leg here a few times and even with workweek in Highschool I visited the caves.

With our Toddler we also visited the caves of han. In The Village of Han-Sur-Lesse You Buy An Entrance Ticket And Then A Train Takes You To The Entrance of the Caves. The Train Alone Was of Course A Hit With Our Son.

Then you get a tour of the caves and learning all about stalactites and stalagmites. After the tour you walk back to the village fits a playground and a little restaurant.

A great place to relax and let your children play for a while.

When do we go again?

Now That I Think Back I Feel Like Booking A Vacation to the Ardennes Again. Get Away With The Family And Relax In The Beautiful Surroundings. The Younst Has Never Been To The Ardennes So She Has To Get Acquainted With This Beautiful Area.
